Message from the Associate Grand Chaplain, I. Jack A. Holloway – Week 50

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”: Ecclesiastes 12:1

We often hear the saying that “We are only as old as we think we are” or that “Age is only a state of mind”. We hear the words of scripture telling us to, “Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth” and many of us may think it is way too late for that, but it is never too late until the Silver Cord is loosed or the Golden Bowl is broken. Companions, each of us at different times in our life first put our trust in God. We can be young in our faith at any time of our life, but the important thing is – “Remember NOW your creator”. As our bodies get older life may be a little more difficult and we might not enjoy the same things we used to think was fun but the peace and contentment of knowing God only gets better. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us that “He has made everything beautiful in its time”.

O LORD, the dark days of our lives were the days without You and knowing You makes the beautiful days. Through your grace may our desire be to enjoy and glorify you forever. Amen.
