He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Companions,
2 Timothy tells us that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable…for instruction in righteousness that we may be “equipped for every good work”. What God wants is a spiritual commitment of heart from which good behavior will naturally flow. We can study Scripture all our lives and still learn things we may have missed before, but sometimes we just need a good short summary to help tie things together. This verse from Micah (sometimes called the Micah mandate) is one of those. It is easy to memorize and soon leads to a desire to know more about what being just, merciful and humble entails. He has shown you what is good. Seek and you shall find – enjoy the search.
I Thank you Lord God for the comfort of your word and the joy of hope it instills in my heart. Amen.
