Message from the Associate Grand Chaplain, I. Jack A. Holloway – Week 37

3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4

1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth. Psalm 115:1

Companions,
It is amazing what can be done by one group of people when no one cares who gets the credit. I read this statement somewhere recently and thought about our Councils as being one of those groups of people. We talk of ourselves as the seat of the moral virtues and humility is certainly one of those virtues. Masonry in general by virtue of our organizational method of ruling and submitting makes humility an essential characteristic and worthy of being a rule of our conduct as men. It is not for our own glory that we do inspiring and instructional degree work, support charities, or be an active part of our communities and churches. We all do what we can in these activities but realize that we are able to do what we do because our Heavenly Father is the giver of all good gifts and graces. Let us all thank Him and give Him the credit and glory for what we do. Soli Deo Gloria.

May the Supreme Grand Master graciously preside over all our Councils and direct us in all such things that He may be pleased to approve and bless. Amen.
