6 Surely You desire integrity in the inner self, and You teach me wisdom deep within. Psalm 51:6 (HCSB)
Companions,
As I was reading this verse the Council degrees and the arches deep within Solomon’s Temple immediately came to mind. Many of us live our lives on the surface of life – the place of performance and behavior – and seldom look below the surface – the place of faith and assurance. The beautiful Temple above is important for inspiring, worshiping, gathering together and encouraging good works but what we do is not as important as who we are in the depths of our heart. As the Temple above is held steady by the firm foundation below, so the Words of Truth and the Spirit of God hold us steady against the ravages of time and circumstance. Let faith and works together, like the two columns of the Temple, support and enrich our spiritual lives.
Heavenly Father, thank you for planting faith and assurance deep within me. Help me to keep it safe but not secret, that I may be incited to do the works you have prepared for me through the guidance and support of your Holy Spirit and your Holy Word. Amen.
