Message from the Associate Grand Chaplain, I. Jack A. Holloway – Week 16

3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3

3 For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name’s sake you lead me and guide me; Psalm 31:3

Companions,
In the Select Master opening we ask two of our officers, “whom do you represent”. We know the biblical people referred to in the symbolic history of our Council and the honor of representing them. We often represent people in other areas of our life, a friend, a client, a boss, or a Most Illustrious Master. It is a trusted duty we should not take lightly. Throughout the Bible the term “for your names sake” is used when referring to God and we carry it over to our Council prayers. If we are acting for God’s sake, it follows that we are representing Him in the world. God would not expect us to do this without his help. He leads and guides us by his inspired and holy word to use as a personal tutor in the art of avoiding evil and doing good. People should be able to see not only who we are but whose we are.

O LORD, through your help may our light so shine among men that they may see our good works and glorify your holy name. Amen.
