Message from the Associate Grand Chaplain, I. Jack A. Holloway – Week 3

The LORD said to Moses, “Make two silver trumpets; of hammered work you shall make them; and you shall use them for summoning the congregation, and for breaking camp. Numbers 10:1-2

Companions,
The silver trumpets were not just blown at early morn and eve of day but to communicate to the whole Israelite camp important information concerning everything from calling a meeting, moving camp in the wilderness or beginning a holy festival. Chapter ten of the Book of Numbers lists a lot of uses of the silver trumpets. Some were for very practical purposes but verse 10 gives the most important reason as “a reminder for you before your God: I am the Lord your God”. I like to think that the “early morn and eve of day” we hear at every Council meeting reminds us that the Lord our God should be the first and last thing we contemplate daily.

Heavenly Father, from the light you bring at break of day to the rest you give at daylights end, we praise your holy name and thank you for the blessings you gave. Amen.
