Message from the Associate Grand Chaplain, I. Jack A. Holloway – Week 2

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
Colossians 3:23

Companions,

We hear at every Council opening the King of Tyre exclaiming that it is his ardent desire to see the Secret Vault completed…that he may return to his own country with the satisfaction of having discharged his duty to the craft.  Each of us has our own duty which God has given us to do along with the gifts that enable us to accomplish his purposes. This duty may be to guard the door with sleepless vigilance, to deliver an instructive lecture or to preside over the Council. Our tenets and precepts are based on Holy Scriptures so let us remember to whom we are ultimately discharging our duty.  Perseverance, in practicing and doing our work with enthusiasm, gives us enjoyment in doing and satisfaction in completing.

Almighty God,
we ask you for the grace
to give us joy in our work,
to see it as the place you want us to be
to persevere in your purposes.

Amen.
