Several Sir Knights and their ladies gathered for the traditional Knights Templar Christmas Observance at the York Rite Temple in Jacksonville on Sunday, December 11, 2016.
Seated around the tables in a cross before the ceremony were clockwise from left: Steven Persinger, Generalissimo, Pilgrim Commandery No. 7 and Mr. Persinger; Randy Burkett, Sword Bearer, Damascus Commandery No. 2; Corbin Elliott, KYCH, KCT, PDDGC, Damascus No. 2; James Mast, Generalissimo, St. Augustine No. 10 and Mrs. Mast; Joseph Wright, Sr., Sentinel, Damascus No. 2 and Mrs. Wright; Christopher Lanham, Gen., Palatka No. 5, and Mrs. Lanham; and on the left at the head of the cross was Mrs. Eric Cole. Sir Knight Eric Cole, Gen., Damascus No. 2, is shown standing in the right, rear, with Steve Urban, Jr. EC, St. Augustine No. 10, acting as Prelate. Sir Knight Urban gave a very interesting, history-related story of how the birthdate of Christ came to be accepted as December 25th, and how the festival and holiday of Christmas developed into what it is today.
Present, but not pictured were: Kolen Sawyer, EC, Damascus No. 2, and Thomas Olsen, KYCH, Recorder of Damascus No. 2, taking the picture.
